Gratitude in our daily lives often comes from recognizing the positive actions and kindness we receive from others. It fosters a sense of appreciation and connection. However, in the Bhagavad Gita, gratitude goes much deeper than appreciation for good
moments. It’s about seeing life through a spiritual lens, where we acknowledge Krishna’s presence and role in everything, even our challenges. We often connect gratitude with positive experiences, but Chapter 18, Verse 58 of the Gita reminds us that if we remember and rely on Krishna, his grace will help us overcome all obstacles. Gratitude in the spiritual sense means being thankful even when things go wrong. This requires trust. But how can we trust Krishna? The more we realize that Krishna always has our best interest at heart, the more we can trust Him. This requires investing time and energy in our relationship with the Supreme. This relationship needs to be a commitment, a priority, and a continuous practice to better understand His unlimited love for us. Starting small and trusting Krishna on the little things can help build a foundation for greater trust in more challenging times. It can also help us learn to hear his voice slowly and gradually, so we know when things get tough how to let go and trust his voice and find our personal relationship with the superior One. Ultimately, true gratitude towards Krishna is not just expressed in words, but through a deep, unwavering trust in his guidance and our individual relationship with Him, especially in the face of life’s challenges. So as thanksgiving arrives let us remind ourselves how to surrender to His divine will and embrace the path He has set for us.
