Janmastami - The Festival of the Supreme Person Friday, 23 August 2019
August 23rd 2019 at 4 PM-12 AM Midnight
The birth of Lord Krishna is one of the biggest celebrations of the year, celebrated all over the world. Krishna appeared on earth over 5,000 years ago in Vrindavan, India. Krishna means "the all-attractive one". He is the cause of all causes, the Supreme personality of the entire creation, both material and spiritual, He is the God of all gods, and the Lord within everything and separate from everything at the same time. This is the day devotees celebrate His beautiful pastimes, His presence in their lives, taking time to remember their eternal loving relationship with Him and His presence within all of our hearts. Devotees fast till midnight on this day, followed by a feast in His honour.
ISKCON of New Jersey cordially invites all members of the community the auspicious Sri Krishna Janmashtami festival celebrating the divine appearance of the Supreme Lord. Please take this incredible opportunity to receive the blessings of Sri Sri Radha Krishna. Lord Krishna likes to be bathed especially on His birthday and you will get the opportunity to o er Abhishek (ceremonial bath) to the Lord. The Lord says in the Bhagavad-Gita that if anyone makes an o ering to Him with devotion and love that He will gladly accept that o ering with love as well.
You will witness the wonderful Maha-Arati ceremony (o ering of various devotional items) Kirtan (joyful singing of the Lord’s names) as well as the annual Maha-Abhishek of the Deity form of the Lord as it has been traditionally done for millennia. Thereafter, the Lord will be o ered a wonderful vegetarian feast (bhog) and dressed in an all-new out t suited for this auspicious occasion. This is your opportunity to make this o ering with your own hands.
So please come and participate with all your family and friends and get special blessings on this most auspicious event.
